Recently, over 100 of our youth (ages 11–18) gathered to donate items and assemble 450 snack bags for at-risk children in our community.

The project was sourced through JustServe, and all 450 bags were donated to Gathering Humanity, a local non-profit that delivers snacks to area schools, shelters, and group homes. The volunteers at Gathering Humanity were absolutely thrilled and amazed by the massive volume of bags our youth produced!

Before starting, the group talked about the challenges local children face—including poverty, food insecurity, and unsafe environments. This sparked a meaningful discussion, with our youth sharing stories of peers they know who face these very challenges. It truly connected them to the mission. They did an outstanding job and had fun working together for a great cause.

Connecting Our Community There is a wonderful "rest of the story" to this project! The founder of Gathering Humanity, Nicole, recently received The Heart of Service Award from JustServe and the America250 initiative. While at that award ceremony, Barbie met Nicole, who has a large network of community partners.

During their conversation, our stake came up as a topic of discussion. Nicole was incredibly grateful and deeply impressed by the immense service rendered by our youth—especially since some of those 450 snack bags are targeted for an elementary school right here in our local area.
